Project 808: home

Bio: Project 808 was formed in 2006 in the small town of Fort Myers Florida. This all original progressive NU Rock band started as a studio project that soon evolved and began performing LIVE in SW Florida. Project 808 was derived from some of SW Floridas Best veteran musicians that have been active in the scene since 1989 with bands like Raindance, Null and Void & Idiot Savant. Project 808 was intended to be just a jam band, comprised of friends and just for fun. However over the last year the band started recording their sessions and eventually put together their most recent release called Sessions. The Sessions CD is a compilation featuring the best of all the recordings they have done during 2007 & 2008 with three different bands. Project 808, the Noise Next Door and Farewell. All featuring members of Project 808. Project 808 is currently building up their small studio and working with several bands from around the state. 808 studios is their home base and helps to bring their sound to a global market with professional recordings. Bob Hewitt and Mark Bunton of Project 808 and 808 studios records, engineers and mixes all of their recordings. Although Project 808 has a solid and competitive sound, the band is mainly doing it for fun. There is little desire to "make it" whatever that means. The band is very Anti-Industry and prefers to remain Independent and prides themselves on maintaining their artistic integrity. Seems too many bands are willing to sell their souls just to make a buck. Project 808 is lyrically controversial & provacative. Inspired by Religion, politics and world events, this band is not afraid to approach any topic. Inspired by bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Primus and a number of others, the iinfluences can be heard however Project 808 has definitely forged their own sound. After 20 years of writing & performing we will probably continue for as long as we have the ability. It has been a long crazy ride and we have all experienced so many good things to remeber. We hope to continue writing and recording our own material and will perform from time to time. But unlike most bands today, we will dictate when and where and will avoid the pressures of trying to hit it BIG. We hope everyone finds something they can connect with but do this for ourselves so if not...oh well. Best way to know what we are about is to listen and decide for yourself.
